Sustainable Supper Fundraiser at Burning Barrel

Sixty guests joined us in supporting local food and farm products at our first Farm-to-Table Fundraiser, hosted on-site at the Burning Barrel farm and restaurant in Lecompton, Kansas.

With their donation, donors enjoyed a Hyperlocal 3-course meal with drink pairings in the beautiful setting of Burning Barrel, accompanied by live music from Megafauna and a short presentation about the Lawrence Farmers Market.

 

Burning Barrel's Chef Brian Strecker has studied cooking methods from all over the world. In focusing on meat fabrication, fermentation, fresh vegetable preparations, and live-fire cooking, he recognized a vein that runs through every culture's culinary traditions: fresh is best. That is why every ingredient on his plates is sourced from his own farm or from one of the hard-working farmers down at the Lawrence Farmers Market.
