We are still recapping the Sustainable Supper @theburningbarrel ! While there isn’t much to show beyond what staff could capture when they weren’t busy, it was still such an amazing night! It went so smooth!

Thank you to everyone who bought tickets and came out to support us! As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, we need all the support we can get!

We still have plenty of markets left so come down to 824 New Hampshire St tomorrow from 7:30-11:30am! See you tomorrow!

The Lawrence Farmers Market wants to honor and rem

The Lawrence Farmers Market wants to honor and remember the dedication and legacy of Bob Lominska to the Lawrence community. Bob recently passed on September 24th from the long term effects of multiple strokes.

Bob Lominska was a long-time educator, farmer, family-man and so much more. He started Hoyland Farm with his wife Joy in 1976. That same year, a group of farmers, including Bob and Joy, began the Lawrence Farmers Market, now the longest running market in Kansas, in the Chamber of Commerce parking lot. Bob and Hoyland Farm helped charge the way and forge everlasting connections between local food growers and our community at large. He and Joy also co-founded Kansas' first CSA (Community Supported Agriculture): Rolling Prairie CSA. Bob went on to work with his son, Avery, to transition the farm into a son and father operation. Avery and his partner Dale still vend with the Lawrence Farmers Market, now under the name Avery's Produce.

A memorial and remembrance service for Bob will be Sunday, October 27, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Maceli’s Banquet Hall, 1031 New Hampshire St, Lawrence, KS 66044. His family welcomes the attendance of everyone who wishes to share in remembering him. Dress is casual.

Reminder: this weekend is your LAST weekend to use your purple and red tokens at the Lawrence Farmers Market!

After this weekend, vendors will still be able to accept $1 wooden tokens for SNAP eligible items through November 23 AND on Holiday Farmers Market, December 14th.

Red Tokens: meat, cheese, eggs, dried beans, hummus & bean dips, etc.
Purple Tokens: fresh fruits & veggies

A big thank you to everyone who bought tickets and came out to support the Lawrence Farmers Market and locally grown food at our first-ever fundraising dinner, the Sustainable Supper.

It was a beautiful, intimate evening, with gorgeous Kansas farmland scenery, delicious food and happy smiling faces all around!

It was such a successful evening, and everyone is asking when we will do it again. Huge shoutout to @theburningbarrel for hosting our event and showcasing so many of our local vendors.

We are open every Saturday 7:30-11:30am at 824 New Hampshire St through November 23!

Plan your shopping list with our weekly updates on what is Fresh This Week! Some highlights this week are garlic, candy roaster squash, salad greens, and fresh ginger! Perfect ingredients for warming fall flavored dishes.

With the frost this week, we won't know for sure how many of the summer crops like tomatoes, peppers, and eggplants will be available at market, but most likely our farmers hurriedly picked everything for you for this weekend!
Everything at our farmers market is grown within 50 miles of Lawrence, right here in Kansas! So you know its fresh and nutrient-dense!

**The Pop-Up Playground will NOT be here this weekend, but they will return for one last day on October 26th!**

Recipe time! This is a recipe developed by our Director of Development, Emily Lysen! It is Sweet Potato Gnocchi with Brown Butter Sage Sauce with Pork Sausage and topped with Tomatoes

We regret to inform you that as of right now, we will not be able to Double Up after October, including the November farmers markets and our Holiday Farmers Market on December 14th. You will still be able to use your SNAP/EBT card at all markets and we will continue to accept SNAP tokens (wooden $1 tokens) for SNAP eligible items!

Start your weekend with us at the Lawrence Farmers Market! This Saturday and every Saturday through November 23rd 7:30-11:30am at 824 New Hampshire St. in Downtown Lawrence, Kansas!

This weekend we will be flush with freshly dug sweet potatoes -- whether you're looking for the traditional orange or some more unique white or purple varieties, our farmers have worked hard cultivating this fall tuberous root for you!

Fall produce abounds throughout market with fresh salad greens, strawberries, pears, apples, pawpaws, persimmons, pumpkins, winter squashes, and so much more! There's also fresh sedum and asters intermixed with zinnias and gomphrena in fall bouquets and mums and asters for planting in your yard!

The Pop-Up Playground will be back this weekend, all the way through the end of October where we will once again host a Trick or Eat event on October 26th!
