Calling all musicians and entertainers :: We are l Calling all musicians and entertainers :: We are looking for volunteers to spread cheer at the Holiday Farmers Market coming up next month on Saturday, December 14th 9am-4pm! There will be over 40 vendors, kids crafts, Santa, a gift wrapping station, and wonderful live music at this festive, bustling market! Our afternoon Santa unfortunately was whisked off to the North Pole -- do you know a Santa, Grinch, or other holiday entertainer that can fill our 12pm-3pm spot? Reach out for details for this gig! Whether you're a group of carolers, a string quartet, a handbell choir, a Grinch, a Santa, or want to perform part of the Nutcracker ballet, we want to hear from you! The Lawrence Farmers Market wants to honor and rem The Lawrence Farmers Market wants to honor and remember the dedication and legacy of Bob Lominska to the Lawrence community. Bob recently passed on September 24th from the long term effects of multiple strokes. Bob Lominska was a long-time educator, farmer, family-man and so much more. He started Hoyland Farm with his wife Joy in 1976. That same year, a group of farmers, including Bob and Joy, began the Lawrence Farmers Market, now the longest running market in Kansas, in the Chamber of Commerce parking lot. Bob and Hoyland Farm helped charge the way and forge everlasting connections between local food growers and our community at large. He and Joy also co-founded Kansas' first CSA (Community Supported Agriculture): Rolling Prairie CSA. Bob went on to work with his son, Avery, to transition the farm into a son and father operation. Avery and his partner Dale still vend with the Lawrence Farmers Market, now under the name Avery's Produce. A memorial and remembrance service for Bob will be Sunday, October 27, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Maceli’s Banquet Hall, 1031 New Hampshire St, Lawrence, KS 66044. His family welcomes the attendance of everyone who wishes to share in remembering him. Dress is casual.
